These systems are a bit larger and is normally also 3 phase 300-400VAC systems. Battery is often 25-100KWH and solar panels 10-30KW like the system showed on photos in Kenya. This is a system for a school and a dormitory for 700 students only with solar power. Old 400VAC system was cut of and is no longer used. This has worked well for about 3 years. (2016)
Solar panel solution is typically thin film panels mounted on a roof on one of the buildings. They are 25 KW in power and used ina sunny area.
Battery here is a OPZV Gel battery of 96 KWH capacity. The design time is here 7 years life cycle. THis is for Kenya sites. Now we will upgrade to new generation Ni-MH battery we can offer with better life cycle costs.
Inverters are 6 x 12 kW units = 72 KW peak as a motor for a pump needs estreemes for short cycles. Awerage is about 15 KW output.
Lamps are about 150 pcs 120 cm led tubes each with new LED technology and only 18 W input / ea lamp.
System do also feed the school office and a PC room.
To this we can add hot water panels for school hygiene and kictchen demands. Hot water is often made by wood but we use sun and save the wood.
Left a redox flow liquid battery with very good characteristics and 15-20 years life cycle. Battery can be deep cycled
Right a Lithium iron phosphate back up in cabinet with inverters etc. Expected 15-20 yars life time.
